As a Black Man by Joseph Inter Da’Poet Mabena

As a black man
As a black man I always like to buy
Buy things with my mind and my eyes
I look at something and immediately start to think
Oh yes,that is nice
I think that is nice until I see the price
That is when I start to think like a wise man and think twice
Economize and realize the word quality exaggerated
Its not about quality, but quantity speaks size
Go for fake
Fake ice
Fake spice
As well as fake rice
As a black man I always like to buy
However,as a black man this is not how I choose to live
This is how life chose to role the dice
The dice to slice and dice my dignity and freedom
As a black man I always like to buy
But I can’t buy without asking how much and why
